Privacy Policy

Your data.
Handled carefully.

Swiss Private Journeys takes privacy seriously. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

This policy complies with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG), which came into force on 1 September 2023, and with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for guests based in the European Union.

01

Who we are

Swiss Private Journeys is a private day-trip operator based in Zurich, Switzerland. We are the data controller for all personal information collected through this website and through our direct communications.

02

What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to organise and deliver your journey. This includes your name, email address, phone number (including WhatsApp), travel dates and group composition, and any preferences or requirements you share with us during the booking process.

If you contact us through this website's contact form, we collect the information you provide in that form.

We do not collect payment card data directly. All payments are processed by a third-party provider operating under their own security and compliance standards.

03

Why we collect it

Your data is used to respond to your enquiry, confirm and organise your booking, communicate with you before and after your journey, and send your pre-trip story package. Nothing else.

We do not use your personal data for marketing without your explicit consent. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for commercial purposes.

04

Who we share it with

Your name and the relevant logistical details of your booking are shared with the guide and driver assigned to your journey. This is necessary to deliver the experience you have booked. Our guides and drivers are contractually required to handle your information responsibly and to use it only for the purpose of your journey.

If your journey is booked through GetYourGuide or Viator, their own privacy policies apply to the data you provide to those platforms.

We use WhatsApp for direct communication. WhatsApp's privacy policy applies to messages sent through that service.

05

How long we keep your data

We retain booking-related data for as long as is required by Swiss law — generally ten years for financial records. Communications and enquiry data that did not result in a booking are deleted within twelve months.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by writing to us. Where legal retention obligations apply, we will explain what we must keep and why.

06

Analytics

This website may use basic analytics tools to understand how visitors find and navigate our content. Where used, analytics are configured to minimise data collection and do not include personally identifiable information.

If you would prefer not to be counted in website analytics, most browsers allow you to enable tracking protection or install a browser-level blocker.

07

Your rights

Under Swiss and EU data protection law, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations), and object to any processing you did not consent to.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us at hello@swissprivatejourneys.com. We will respond within 30 days.
